Recipe Book

2026

Context
Global Grind is a recipe book that blends food, culture, and skateboarding into a single editorial experience. Designed to feel like a personal scrapbook, the book pairs each recipe with a professional skateboarder, highlighting dishes rooted in their cultural background alongside a short profile that captures their identity and influence.

The Challenge
The idea was to create a crossover between two seemingly unrelated worlds (skate culture and global cuisine) while finding a common thread in identity and storytelling. Food becomes a lens to explore heritage, while skateboarding grounds the book in a contemporary, youth-driven context.

The Solution
The layout of the recipe book is designed to feel like you opened a scrapbook that has been made from skatboard and food magazines. Although there is no evident color scheme, the consistent photography effects and cutout manipulation enhances the rough around the edges feel. Each page of the book features a skateboarder with their country's flag color's being more prominent in the typography. The final piece feels personal, expressive, and grounded in real stories, offering a more human approach to editorial design.
